The purpose of the Strategic Plan chart is to help you determine the most cost-effective time frame to eliminate the backlog you have selected.

The module provides three "Plan" macros that use the information you have already entered in the three "Need" worksheets that calculate the funding required to eliminate your backlog for the following Budget Cycles:
Annual Plan (1-Year) – 52 Annuals or 52 Years, the first one starting in 10 years.
Biennium Plan (2 Year) – 26 Bienniums or 52 Years, the first one starting in 10 years. You can run these macros by pressing the button on each worksheet page.
Quinquennial Plan (5-Year) – 10 Quinquennial or 50 Years, the first one starting in 10 years. You can run these macros by pressing the button on each worksheet page.
You can run these macros by pressing the Run BMAR Plan Macro button on each worksheet page, or you can call them from the Excel Main Menu under Tools > Macro > Macros to open the Macros form. BMAR (Backlog of Maintenance and Repairs) is Deferred Maintenance. The buttons on the worksheets will not be active if you are in the process of editing a cell. If you do not get a response when you try to press the button, make sure the previous cell you were editing has been saved by clicking the green check mark at the top of the worksheet or click on a blank cell.
Select the macro you want to run and click the Run button to start running the macro. When the macro starts, the system prompts you with the following message: This procedure calculates the data for the BMAR Plan graph and will take several minutes to complete. Do you wish to proceed?
Click Yes, and the macro runs the calculations and updates the values on the Strategic Plan worksheet that update the Strategic Plan chart.
The program attempts to let you know the minimum FCI value that can be entered in Cell D10. If the number entered is too low, the program displays a Condition Index Entry Error.
You are updated on the macro's progress on the Funding Need form, just above the Budget Date cell.
View the results from the calculations on the chart on the Strategic Plan worksheet.

Note the slope of the curve. This helps bring you to two obvious conclusions:
Select a year when the slope is starting to flatten out as the most cost effective time frame to keep up with your Cyclic Renewal future needs and eliminate the backlog you have selected.
