Path: Organization > Lookups > Asset Types
Asset Types relate to asset records and is used to define the different categories of assets to be tracked. Subtypes can be used to further refine the Type. Both the Code and Description fields are required as well as one or more Repair Centers.
The Cost Tab displays the total costs of all items for this lookup Type.
The UDF Tab gives you the option to define field labels specific to each Asset Type.
Examples: chair, file cabinet, computer, copier, table
If you use the optional Facility Scheduler module, the Rental Rates Tab is used to establish various charges and other information for all assets of this type. Note that settings on this Tab do not transfer automatically to a record. When you mark the Rentable check box on individual records, the data transfers to any fields you left empty. If the Rentable check box is clear on the Type, no assets of that Type are eligible for rental, regardless of data added to the individual asset's Rental Rates Tab.
The Is Door check box applies to the Lock window for users of the optional Key Management module.
You can apply any term you want to Asset Types that have locks, for instance, entry, hall access, or other descriptive names. As long as the Is Door check box is marked, the asset is eligible for selection from the Lock window in the Key Management module. This is the way a lock is put into use.
